Practice as you have heard, is not perfect. Perfection is an unattainable goal. Practice makes confidence. The better you know your stuff, have more confidence and better the display is the end.
Judy Friedt, a longtime customer of the insurance company, Westfield Group, reminded me of this in his communication with us. I let them tell the story:
"It took a few years back, your first grade here at Westfield. I was in that class. The first day I was nervous and had a lot of "UHS and EMS." By the end of the class were not words away and I was much more confidence. I read all your newsletters and follow the information you submitted. I am proud to say that I just got back from Las Vegas, where I have the CA World sponsored by Computer Associates. I have not only to visit but are actually a presentation!
There were about 35 people in the room for my presentation. I stood there, took a deepBreath and let it go. I did a great job (so to speak), and even looking at my notes. I knew that my information and put it down. I practiced and practiced.
My husband (of one of my best critic) was in the audience and he was amazed. He also said I have a very good job. I did not grope for words or use any non-words. The practice paid off.
I want to thank you from me for the public the tools to do so, not only speaking, but the courage to actually receivethere and do it. I can not wait to do more. "
So, taking advice of Judy. Practice confidence – and a great presentation – will follow.
